When we put on a mask, we change the world. We change not only how others see us, but also how we see ourselves, opening the door for transformation. A mask is a road leading beneath the skin of your own identity. It’s a bridge between the inner and outer self.

A mask is about experiences and ties between distinct worldviews on human identity. It’s about identity in intercultural transformations. And when a mask is presented in various cultures with various meanings, its essential principle stays the same as it becomes something extra, an extension the body can use.

The moment we put on a mask is the moment we have the possibility to look into the depths of who we truly are.

Masks are journeys to yourself. We make our masks along the lines of slow fashion.

Even if it may seem that a mask hides us, inside it gives us the possibility to truly find ourselves.

Mask Bureau wants to bring people back to themselves, masking them and revealing their essence.

In putting on a mask we switch into the mode of metaphor. In this moment we are in unmediated bodily contact with the sacred. Spiritual urgency cloaks itself in contemporary aesthetics, but archetypal symbols remain.

Courses are exciting experiences where creating a mask is taken as a self-developing gesture in women’s empowerment. We become this movement’s elongated arms, shamans aiding in its rebirth.

Mask Bureau is a studio creating mask designs and masks with a unique signature while using a wide spectrum of techniques. Studio Mask Bureau is located in Prague in the Letná neighborhood, an art district as well as the place where Linda, Mask Bureau’s founder, finished her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and, after many years, settled down with her international family.

We are an organized and compact full service team of professional film and theater make-up artists, hairdressers, and creators of special make-up effects. We build on the values of classic handicraft make-up with an overlap into the fine arts, we follow current trends and techniques and are constantly educating ourselves while growing with modesty. We provide all kinds of makeup and associated props.

We provide services for theater and film productions, the public, photography and teaching activities in the field of stage makeup and fusion body paint techniques.

We are not tied to any one cosmetic brand and the only unifying preferential element of the whole team is an emphasis on ecology.

Theatrical/Stage makeup is the discipline of theatrical make up with distinct rules relating to application, collaborating with light design as well as peephole scenes.

Bodypaint is painting on the body in its tasteful and contemporary form. We use paints on the body, airbrush and non-traditional pigments from natural materials or clay.

Bodypaint is used by live statutes, aquabelles, pregnant women and for photo shoots, events and other clients in both the cultural and private sector.
